I want to remove a closet wall and am not sure if it is load bearing. My house is a cape cod built in 1948. The wall is parallel to the joists in the attic. It is perpendicular to the front of the house. The wall touches the back of the house and is about 10 feet long. The width of the house is 30 feet and the wall in question is not in the center if the house, it is 12 feet from the side of the house. There is for sure a support that goes the width of the house that is load bearing it is the full 30 feet, and is 12.5 feet from the front of the house and 12.5 feet from the back of the house.

If it's parallel to the joists above, it is very likely not a load-bearing wall. That's all that can be said without examining the house first-hand.

Take the sheet rock out of the ceiling in the middle of the closet. Stick your head up there and take a look at the joists. If the joist are spanning over the closet area then you're fine. If there are joists that stop and continue on one of the walls of the closet then don't touch it and let me know. I'll be more than willing to guide you along this aspect of your project.
