Our pump is being installed in our new well this week. The "well" guy is putting a Myers 1 HP - 5 stage submersible pump in our 420' deep, 2-gallon a minute well. I don't know if it matters, but the static water level is at 20' depth. At a later date, when he runs the water line to the house, he's planning to put in a 36 gallon pressure tank. I asked him if a larger tank could be put in and he said he could put in up to a 100 gallon tank, but that he didn't see any advantage in doing so. The plumbing fixtures that will be in the house are: 1 toilet, shower, sink, clothes washer, and 2 kitchen sinks. I think the plan calls for 1" supply line pipe to the house and then 3/4" everywhere else in the house.

So my question is, what is the advantage, if any, of having a larger pressure tank? I would like to have enough water pressure so that one could run water at two places at once without losing pressure (i.e. wash dishes while someone showers, etc.). I would appreciate advice on the best way to achieve this.

The larger pressure tank would keep your pump from cycling as often but would not affect pressure or flow, that would be the pressure switch and the size piping used. It sounds like that is all good.
