So, here I am trying to finalize the details for the plumbing that will go into my house that I'm building. I will have a full basement with a septic tank. There will be several plumbing fixtures in the basement. I am planning on using an ejector pump. Since I will have about 1.5 feet of the basement walls exposed, and the waste line should be 2+ feet underground, it looks like the waste line should go right out the middle of the concrete basement wall. Is that correct? I think it is, and that I would run all of my basement plumbing down into my pit, and pump it up, and into a Y into the main line right before it exits the building (would I use an upside down trap before the Y?). My real question is this: does the concrete contractor leave a void for the waste line, or do I drill it out after, or am I altogether wrong, and I have to pump everything in the house and go under the foundation footing?
This is also a silly question that I'm sure I'll have to ask the inspector about, but... The permit memo says that clean-outs are required to be placed upstream of any 90 degree turn made with one long turn fitting. Does that mean if I use 2x45's that I don't need a clean-out? How important are clean-outs? Do I want to use them or avoid them?

thanks!

I would expect that any drains originating above your exit will use gravity to that exit. Only those fixtures below the exit would be going to your pump chamber. The pump would deliver the waste to a sanitary "y" above the exit. The exit would begin with a sanitary "y" with the straight component set at your 1/4 on 12 slope with the "uphill" end being your cleanout location. The waste enters the "y' through the angled flange.

All turns, with the exception of traps, should be no sharper than 45 degrees. The 90 degree fittings would be used for your vent lines.

Cleanouts are not only a good idea, I would think they will be manditory in most, if not all, areas.

I just re-read your initial post.

It seem you only intend to use the sewage pump for the basement fixtures. This is a good thing! :)

Thanks for the info. So, does the concrete contractor leave a void for the line, or do I drill through the poured wall? I imagine the former...

Its best to leave it for the plumber to locate the hole. the final elevation of the septic tank will have to be determined before the pipe is installed. If he can locate it while the wall is being formed then the concrete installer can form an over sized void. In most cases the hole will be made later and the pipe installed with hydrolic cement. Make sure they coat the outside aoround the pipe with damp proofing before they backfill.
