ok, it's really a stoneslinger having a bad day. The truck was being loaded and as you can see, the road isn't flat. Also the driver parked with his rear tires on a soft shoulder. The result was that two bolts holding the side of the box were sheared off, tipping it over

The frame is literally twisted 90 degrees

HMMm even before I saw the pics, just from the topic name I said to myself "what a flawed idea".

I gotta admit, I fell for that one!
There's actually a very well made side dump made by Reliance in california. A friend of mine helped design it. It's pretty cool - interior is swedish stainless steel that can run dirt during the day and asphalt at night with no down time between them.

My mistake for the misguided post. I should have read the index better. :?
Not a problem Phydeaux - it gives me something to do :)
Speaking of tipping over.. here's a good one..

Notice the outriggers are still stowed away? Bet he had fun explaining that one to the boss.
You would think there would be an interlock of some sort to prevent the swing-gear from operating with the outriggers stowed. :?
Actually I think there are interlocks but they also have overrides. There should be some type of management key to override it :)

For years the truck made by Mercedes called a Unimog has had side dumps for years. In fact there is one huge mother of a centre ram and depending how you disconnect the holding mechanismd of the loading box. the box will dump left, right, back and front. If you unhook them all, the box will go strwight up forwhatever reason. The Unimog is ptobably the most amazing truck I haave ever seen. You can put a front end loader on the front and a back hoe on the back. I've seen them in fields in Germany used as a tractor pulling a plow. They have lots of different attachments and can get PTO's on all four sides. They get as small as a full size pickup or as big as a single axel dump truck.
