I am wondering where you can shut off the gas completly for the whole entire house.

For example in the breaker box you can shutdown the entire houses electric
by the main breaker usually 200 Amps top circuit breaker.

Another example is the water main valve that shuts off the water to the entire house.

But I don't know where the main gas shut off valve is.
I have gas shut off valves at each of the appliances i.e the gas furnace , gas fireplace , gas dryer , gas stove , gas water heater. But it would be nice to know where the main valve is to shut off the entire house from gas.

I located the gas meter it looks like it has a value or a turn screw valve but I am not sure if you turn this it will shut off the gas to the entire house or disconnect the pipe.

Anybody know?
Thanks for any help

yes in fact there at the meter is the main shutoff valve. be advised that sometimes when you turn this off and then back on you may have to reset the diaphram in the regulator downstream of it. remember to relight any pilots after you do all this...steve
