Hi everyone,
I was just wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to use fluorescent lamps with a dimmer switch? - and if so does it require a different switch or wiring setup then traditional bulb setups?

As far as I know they are undimmable, hopefully someone else will chime in if I'm wrong.

Are you talking about CFLs? There are some that are rated as dimmable but my experience with them has been disappointing. I have an electronic dimming system in my house and every brand of dimmable CFL has failed to work. Some of them just flicker. Others don't energize until the voltage hits a certain threshold. I am sticking with incandescents for now.

Dimmable flourescents are definitely available now.
