I have a few question about finishing concrete steps. 1- after pouring concrete steps about 6 with a 7 3/4 rise how do I finish trowel the front of the risers with the form boards on them? 2- I hear of oiling the form boards, what type oil do you use? Thanks for any info on this

Ask for "form release oil" and you can do a steel trowel finish if you pull the boards a little early

back in the "good ole days" we used diesel fuel for form oil, work well and we always had some close by for the equipment

stairs i would do a brush finish so it has some grip to it, unlike a smooth steel finish

You can also wrap heavey poly on the face of your risers. It will make it Incredibly smooth. I once in a while use desile. But don't really need it when you pull your risers. If you want to rub them up. Pull them off very carefully. Time frame depends on how fast they set up. Around two hours from the time the truck pulls away. Don't pour them wet. Around a 80 slump. (4 inch slump). To make it eAsier try and save some cream
