For the shed project that this forum has so graciously helped me with, I am trying to find the right ceiling fan. My reason for wanting a ceiling fan is that the shed will be used as a workshop, and where I live, half of the year the temperature doesn't get below 90.

The shed is only 14'*8', so I don't think I will need something with huge blades.

A problem I haven't quite got a solution to is how to mount it though. My roof is just a simple shed roof, with one wall taller than the other, with rafters running across. Is there an adapter to allow me to install a ceiling fan on a sloped roof?

I live near a lowes and a home depot, so I am pretty much limited to buying from them. Although, Wal-Mart is probabley the cheapest.

What is your recomendations?

Thanks!

Just cut a 2 X 4 whatever length fits between two rafters (probably 14 1/2" if your rafters are on 16" centers or 22 1/2" if they're on 24" centers). Lay it 'on the flat' (flat across) and 'screw' it in thru the rafters. Now screw a 4" octagonal electrical box to the underside of the 2 X 4, now mount your fan.

Once again...my same old song and dance: Don't try to save money by buying a cheap fan or you will having drooping fan blades after just a year or two because of the moisture and humifity the shed will receive. Only buy a fan built for outdoor use. The salesperson at Lowes or HD will point you to the right fan. I don't think Wal-Mart carries an outdoor fan, but they might.
