Hi, we had our slab put down about three weeks ago now. can someone on this forum check out the slab pictures (18) and tell us if things look normal or was there to much water in the one large spot that the finisher had a hard time power troweling 11 hours later.

I cant post a URL on the forum because am new here, so if you could kindle email I will send the link to view photos .

any help or comments will be greatly appreciated ,

thanks

Usually a little excess water will not cause any structural problems----it will irritate a finisher by delaying his finish troweling. Too much finish troweling while surface is wet may, however, cause some spalling of the surface especially if it is exposed to freeze/thaw cycles.

the finishers sometimes like to add excessive water to the mix to make it easier to spread. Rwanders is right in that it wont cause structural problems (assuming it wasnt TOO excessive). I have poured a slab and ended up having it rained on during the finish process. Now thats a lot of water. They ended up using a little concrete mix thrown on top to help finish it but as long as the aggregate rock is still consistent in the mass of the slab the the finish wont matter much

I will not cause structural problems however the surface durability is significantly compromised by adding water and diluting the water to cement ratio.
