My wife and I have bought a land in Virginia and we plan to get help to build the following house.
http://www.dreamhomesource.com/Plan.asp?PlanID=18364&SquareFeetMin=1500&SquareFeetMax=1999&DesignerGUID=%7BA5A9B3F5%2D476E%2D4135%2DA116%2D2B 8D3401F6F8%7D&SortBy=SF&Record1=31&RecordN=36
I was wondering if someone can tell me how much I should pay for the excavation and digging the basement, footer and pouring a 9 feet ceeling?

Thanks, Alex

Just off the cuff - the foundation itself will probably be around 18000 and the excavation around 3-4000. Total of $21-22000... just a best guess without really getting into the details and not knowing what materials are costing in your area.

Are you allowing for a thicker, reinforced concrete wall for the 9' basement ceiling?

What would you recommend? we are getting a 9' ceiling in our basement. Our builder acts like it is nothing too serious for him..at least he didn't talk like their was. arggghh! This whole process it grueling!

A 9' foundation wall isn't all that hard if you have the right forms.. Symons or similar. It gets more difficult when you're doing the old school plywood and Gates snap ties. That's the way I learned and what a dream it was the first time I used a Symons system.

Its best to check with your local codes but you may have to increase your wall thickness/footing size to accomodate the increase in lateral forces on a 9' concrete wall.
