I think we are going to try and keep our slab around 4" thick or just a little more. We are currently adding pea gravel to get to our desired floor height. My question is are there any tricks to keeping the pea gravel consistent and level ?
I thought about pulling a string across from time to time and checking against it. I also thought about hammering in stakes to sweep a board across like you would to level concrete...well ?

Mark your walls at the slab elevation, pull a string line and keep the stone level 4" below it. You will need help with this.
