No flange to set toilet

I am working on an older home. I just pulled the toilet out so the floor man can lay the new laminate. There does not appear to be a flange to mount the toilet to. The drain pipe appears to be some sort of old metal? Any suggestions?

It's probably cast iron-----a plumbing supply house should be able to provide either missing part and/or advice. May be wise to invest a few $$ with a plumber since a leak could remain hidden for a long time with nasty results if you don't handle it properly.
