Hi there,

Ok, here's the deal. I have a portable bar, which I constructed myself, and I've decided
that I also want to design a portable sink that will go in it as well, that will be fully
functional w/ faucet to pour water. The water will come from a source, such as a tank
underneath the bar that can be refilled, etc. Check out my image to see the drawing design
of what I'm trying to go for:

The reason I come here for help, is that I ran into the one engineering problem that I can't figure out. Basically, the water is going to need to be able to be suctioned from the tank somehow when someone opens the faucet handle. I was thinking to be able to do that, I probably need some kind of motor device 'within' the tank, right? Problem is, I can't design a motor obviously and further than that, I can't design a motor INSIDE an already built tank. Even beyond that problem, I also need the tank to have a threaded opening (maybe the top or side - those water-type dispenser tanks like 9-5 offices have (see drawing) have the opening at the top, but there's no threads) so that I can screw on/off the tubing that will go from the tank to the faucet.

So my question is, does anybody know of where I can get like a pre-made/pre-engineered already-made design for the tank/motor/threaded opening? Or does anyone have a better idea maybe that might exist on the market somewhere of a water container with ejection capability to an external tubing of some sort? Any new ideas apart from my drawing is fine, however, I kind've wanted the same size as those 'office-type' blue tanks because 1) the size is perfect I found out for the bar I built and 2) it holds just about the right amount of water I figured out that would last about a week with use.

I got the sink pretty much figured out..real easy..just cut a square in the top of my bar surface, drop a mini-sink in there with a sealant and a tube that will come down and draw out the waste water to some drain slats..

Let me know any ideas! Thx..

RV's use 2 methods to move water from the tanks to the faucet. If the tank is rated for pressure, you can pressurize it with air from a small compressor and push the water out. I've used the onboard compressor to then blow the whole system clear for winterizing.

Nonrigid tanks, or any tank, can use a small pump outside the tank. Probably google "RV water pumps" to see some. They are usually 12 volt which might help with portability.

I think I'm gonna go with the water pump route (due to portability like you said). Where's a place where I have a good chance of finding a bunch of different brands? Wal-Mart? Home Depot?

So, the water pump would sit outside my tank. So does that mean my tank will have to have 2 openings then? 1 to intake a tube from the water pump and another to output a tube to the faucet?

Oops, I almost forgot. What about the faucet's opener/closing handle? Will the motor always be on i.e. pumping 24/7 so the water is constantly being jetisoned i.e. it's always waiting at the end of the tube inside the faucet so when the handle turns open, it will eject, or am i going to have to turn the water pump on below each time before I can get water up top?

I suspect the best place to see more than a few ones is a large RV supplier or online. I've had the compressor type but I think the switching would be similar. A pressure switch senses a drop in pressure when the faucet is open, closes a contact and turns the pump on. When you turn the faucet off the pressure builds to a cutoff point and the contacts open on the pressure switch.

Excellent! I might even have a good chance if I go to a RV specialist shop to even find a tank that will already be connected (or have the capability to) to a refillable water tank. I just hope the tank fits in the space I provided for under my bar.

Thanks so much for your help, very informative/helpful for me! Have a good one,
