Here in Illinois I am trying to form up for a 24 x 24 detached garage. It will have 12 inch by 12 inch footers. Above grade code requires there to be 8 inch minimum distance between sill and grade, for termites.

Does anyone have a diagram that shows how to form up a concrete curb? I don't really want to use block.

I dont have a diagram.....But, it's fairly simple.
Set your outside/perimeter form to the finished curb height first (brace well).
Then hang your inside curb form level with the perimeter form at whatever width code specifies. Use steel form stakes for the curb. It will be easier to remove during the finishing process. Put the stakes about every 4-5 feet a for 8inch curb, and a spreader cleat across the top at the same to maintain width. I typically remove the stakes 'only' about the time of the first pass with hand trowels. Then remove the form (if you want) before the last pass. I keep a pipe wrench handy to twist the stakes and lift them up during removal.......
Hope this helps......
