Pre-finished cabinet material?

I'm looking to build some bookcases out of a material that I won't have to paint. The bookcases will have to be white, and I'd like them to have a smooth finish. I'm not aware of MDF or MDO coming with a nice finish, but I am familiar with melamine board. Is melamine my best option, or can anyone suggest something I may be missing? Thanks!

You can use high pressure prelaminated panels, check out a company called The Art Deco Group.

I just checked out their website. I'm going to find out where I can get it locally and see how it compares costwise to melamine. Looks like just what I'm looking for, and it comes in profiles, too, so I can put a base and crown without having to worry about matching paint colors. Thanks!
