Some men in a pickup truck drove into a lumberyard. One of the men walked in the office and said, "We need some four-by-twos."

The clerk asked, "You mean two-by-fours, don't you?"

The man said, "I'll go check," and went back to the truck.

He returned and said, "Yeah, I meant two-by-four."

"All right. How long do you need them?"

The customer paused for a minute and said, "I'd better go check." After a while, the customer returned to the office and said, "A long time. We're gonna build a house."

That made me laught my a** off!!! I think because I sometimes hire this kid named Donny to work with me to give him some training and I can see he saying something like that. Awesome worker but just not the brightest. A few years ago another co-worker, Chris, hit his thumb with the hammer and it was one of Donny's first day on the job. I just yelled out something like "It's because you are using a right handed hammer and you are left handed. Donny, hop in my truck and go get a left handed hammer at the store for Chris". The kid got down off the roof and since the keys were not in the ignition where they usually are, he asked a guy cutting 2 by's where the keys were. When he told he needed to go get a hammer for Chris and why - the rest of us nearly fell off the roof. Mean I know - but all in fun. He is still with me after 3 years and is now a damn good carpenter.

How bout "get me the bubble fluid outa my truck. I need to fill my level." So far I have had two bottles of gun oil and one can of wd-40 brought to me. Then I told them to go ahead and use it and fill my level up. Only one actually tried to the humorous delight of the rest of the crew.

Luckily we could diffuse one board stretcher "situation". Mrs homeowner agreed we should use the board stretcher to fix a miscut. Had to let her know that they get awful thin when we stretch boards and she just wouldn't be happy.

This is not just in construction. Numerous ones are used for new privates straight out of AIT when they get to their first unit. Happens alot in the motorpool.

Changing the air in the tires from winter air to summer air
Collect an exhaust sample
Go ask the 1SG (First Sergeant) for a PrickE8

The list goes on and on!
