We were framing a house, and while stick-framing the roof, my buddy 'Les' was up there finishing up a few odds and ends. He had a circular saw up there with him but he accidently dropped his tape with a loud 'clanggg' to the floor below. The new guy (a young kid) says "want me to get that"? Les says "no, but you see that short 2 X 4 right by your feet? Mark it 24" and toss it up". The kid throws it up there, and Les busts out laughing so hard he almost fell off the roof. "What's so funny, I asked"? The kid had 'wrote' 24" on the board. Semantics.
