Not sure if this is the right area to post this, but here goes.......

My wife and I are planning a deck. Cost is a major concern, but so is maintenance. As of now I think the plan is to go with posts and framing using pressure treated wood, and some kind of maintenance-free deck boards. What options are there these days? I see there are many brands of composite decking. Then I hear about this Ipe stuff or Cypress. What is everyone's opinion on these options?

Ipe is fairly expensive and labor intensive, but it will outlast you, it is beautiful lumber. Composites such as Trex run on the high side as well but are easier to use. PT lumber is the most economical choice. I do like the combo PT frame with composite decking.

We use Composites and they work well but can be expensive.
