Building our first patio cover! I have special ordered - according to what was recommended for a 24' span on our patio cover - a 24' x 15" x 3 1/8" Glulam Beam.

However, what kind of a bracket can I use to set this beam on top of my 4" x 6" post? The beam will be just slightly narrower than my post - by approx 1/4"!! UGH!

All was special ordered - I am stuck with what I have - MUST MAKE IT WORK!
Help!
Thanks!

I've deleted the redundant posts...
Have you looked at Simpson's Architectural line of brackets? strongtie.com
Your glulasm supplier should be able to get brackets for you as well.
Or an engineer can design a connection that you can have fabricated by a local welding shop. It sounds like this would be your best bet, they can review the design at the same time.

Notch a 3 1/8"x15" slot in the 6" side of your post, then fit the glulam into the slot and fasten it to the post.

Done.

Purchase the T or L brackets from Simpson architectural line, as Don mentioned. Let (or cut) the bracket into the post 1/4", bolt it up, good to go.
