Hello.....I currently have a problem with water leaking in my basement. The water seems to be coming in between the foundation wall and the brick wall above it.
What can I do to solve this problem?
I have been told that pouring cement beside both the basement and the brick will solve the problem. Is this a bad idea?
Also I know that the land around the building needs to be graded away.
Thank You
What is the distance between the grade and where your brick starts? Do you have a framed wall on the interior side of the brick or is it solid brick?
A couple things that come to mind is that either you
A. have a roof leak that is getting between the framed wall and the brick and there isn't the correct flashing / weep system in place.. or
B. The grade is too close to the connection between brick and foundation and no provisions have been made for flashing that area.
Is there any way that you can trace where the water is coming out... maybe getting close enough to the edge of the building and checking the roof area.. or getting up in the floor joists to see where water is entering?

As far as I can tell the water is not caused by the roof. The roof seems in pretty good condition. I went underneath the floor and I couldn't see how the water would go through the wall so I am pretty sure its between the foundation and brick wall.
The soil starts about 4 inches above the foundation and brick wall connection and seems to be pretty much in a level or even inward flowing direction.
I know that I need to fix the grading, but will placing cement in along the wall solve the problem about the water coming in through the joint. It seems like a good idea but I am not sure about long term issues.
