I recently noticed numerous cracks running down the side of a load-bearing brick wall of a residential building. With the building being perhaps less than 10 years old, the rest of the building looked in pretty good shape. Does anyone know why these cracks may have occured down the side of the wall?
Thanks Cyf

Is this a real, solid brick wall or is it just a brick veneer over a structural frame of some sort.
Where are the cracks and what direction do they have?
How wide are they?
What is the relationship to corners, doors or windows and how far apart are they?
Ho0w high and long is the wall?
In what part of the world is the building hiding since no location was provided. Climate and exposure is necessary to make any guess.

im not sure what caused the cracks could be multiple things, however fixing a crack in you wall isnt too bad, came across thorremedial.com they give a good example with pictures about how to repair it and what it should look like.
hope this site helps

I will leave the post above as it may be helpful in your search. Do understand however that the poster above is connected with that company.
When we have encountered this on commercial projects we have found that the footing has become compromised. Most of the time this is due to water. The sources for the water are various, it could be broken water lines, broken waste lines, under ground springs, changes in the water table or surface water not draining away from the structure properly.
