Given the area we're building in, it turns out that tapping into the nearest town water main is much less of a gamble than having a well drilled.
The plan, initially, is to have the town Hwy Dept install a saddle on their 8" water main, run 1" Q-line about 200' to our property line and install a 1" service meter. After that's been accomplished, we will run our own water line about 700' to our home site.
Even with the 100 psi pressure at the water main, verified at a nearby hydrant, this is a long run of 1" Q-line. As the service meter is 1-inch in size, I'm assuming that this is as big as our water line will get at any point along the run. And along with the 900' run, we've also got an elevation change of 76' (uphill) from the water main to the home site.
I'm no plumber, by any stretch, but I'm also assuming that we won't have much water pressure at the top of the hill. We were thinking about using a large storage tank and a pump, at the top of the hill, to boost the water pressure for the house.
This is what we're up against, so I'd appreciate any thoughts or advice I can get in this regard.
Thanks for your time,
Red Oak :)
