Hello,
I need advice from those with more experience than I. I am thinking of using aluminum soffit panels to cover an existing unfaced soffit. It is currently open. The new fascia boards are pressure treated, stained and in place. The roof sheathing covers the top edge of the fascia and no metal is in contact with the PT fascia. Now the problem. I know that aluminum soffit can not be in contact with PT. If I merely separate the aluminum J channel from the fascia board by a quarter inch, can I go ahead and use the J channel and the aluminum soffit panels without fear of any electrochemical reaction between the aluminum and copper salt in the PT wood? Is the quarter inch space sufficient?
Thanks for your help.
