Deck Construction

Building deck off cement slab and extending it out. the cement slab 7 feet of the 20 has two metal poles to support soffit of house. Now that the deck is built around them what would be a good way to cover the poles? i was thinking cedar four sides glued but maybe there is a better way. thanks.

Those aluminum columns work pretty slick. The come with a capital and a base and basically just snap together around whatever structural member you are hiding. Check with your building supplier or vinyl siding distributors.

Aluminum columns work great as well as the fiberglass columns.
With round columns I've taken "C" channel and welded to the sides .. essentially making a box. Then tek screwing plywood to the "C" channel - then you can do whatever you want with it. Use treated plywood.
