I should have asked this sooner, but I just thought of it. I'm building my footer forms out of 2x10. My longest wall is 38', which is a 14' and 2x12' pieces of lumber. I have each piece staked at each end. I was also planning on nailing a 21" piece of 1x2 in the middle of each piece to prevent spreading. My footer will be 9.5x18". Is this enough support, or should I add more? Thanks.
I usually put form stakes every 4' or so for a footer. I like to make straight lines straight lines :)

I think I built my forms a bit different from most people (i.e. overkill), but I went ahead and put the stakes in about every four feet.
As I'm on all sand, I started with the highest corner, and made that my grade. Then, I put all the forms in at that grade. Then, I went back and shoveled sand back in so the entire footer would be at the same grade and the formwork would be supported by the sand on the outside and from underneath. I also then added braces on top, every 6 feet or so, and more stakes. I also have two #4 rebar in there. They're a little low to the ground, but I think they'll do their job. It's to be poured on Wed at 10. I'm excited. My first concrete...
