The answer is 70s obviously  but what construction style is it?

We just bought it, the inside is great. Well maintained inside, large yard and there IS grass unlike that old pic.

The only thing is..the outside. It is cuter in person, the door is green w/ circles on it.

What should we do with the decorative er..trim?
What do you call those crisscrossing boards?
Paint it in a contrasting color?
There will be people living there w/ sensitivities to chemicals/paint fumes so we wouldn't want a huge overhaul with them in the house.

The style is called a "split foyer". The applied trimwork gives it a "tudor-style" look.

You could easily paint the exposed trim to bring back (enhance) the tudor look, but that's pretty much out of style nowadays.

Is it in the budget to apply vinyl siding? I'm really surprised all those 1x4 boards have survived for 30 years without rotting. They tend to collect water if not maintained constantly.

Sounds like you got a great buy finding a home that has been so well-maintained all these years. If can update the look, you will only add to it's value.

I'm sure the windows and doors aren't very energy-efficient since they appear to be original to the house.
