Default stucco vs hardiplank

I live in central California and ready to enclose our large garage.
Which is cheaper to install, stucco or hardiplank?
How much can I plan on paying for stucco per sq. ft?

Try calling out subcontractors and getting estimates for each. Stucco is usually less expensive, but you'll have more maintenance over the years. Also consider the costs of paint. You could go with integral color stucco and not paint, you could also go with integral color (ColorPlus) hardiplank and skip the paint costs.

Using an acrylic stucco system with foam such as EIFS can be much more than hardi-plank. Typically we pay about $4 installed for hardi and anywhere up to $10 for the stucco system. Textured acrylic of course is less...about the same price as the hardi
