 The Delta 12 1/2 inch planer is a decent planer for the money. With a 15amp motor it can plane just about any type of wood you can throw at it.
I've put hard maple, cherry, oak, and white pine through this with no problems. I think the only time it really bogged down was when I put 7" wide plank of hard maple through and I set the depth a little too deep.
The model I purchased also comes with a stand. It was easily setup in about an hour. A replacement set of knives were also provided. I haven't changed these out yet - but when I do I'll write something on how easy or hard it was.
